Every breath is a prayer. I see my work as a ritual process in exploring and honoring the past, present and future. How can I weave together where I’ve been, where my feet rest in this exact moment, and where my dreams lead me? I see making as a way to capture an experience, to preserve a moment in time. Each piece is a tangible talisman —a light in the dark when I can’t find my way. Intention is a guiding force in the way I move and create. This manifests in many different mediums: yarn gliding through my fingers, a pencil softly grazing the grain of paper, my whole being coming alive as I create friction binding wool together while wet felting with water from different sources that have touched my heart. I learn from the slowness, hand stitching a traveling altar, or alchemizing the essence of seasons by gathering and pressing flowers from spring and summer to adorn handmade beeswax candles that guide me through the darker months. I long for wholeness and revel in the fragments, finding peace and embodiment meeting myself where I’m at. I see my work as a tether, to exist as a reminder that we are never as far away from our true nature as it may seem. Thread is a symbol of remembrance, of self and memories and stories. I use the threads in my life to honor, direct and mold the past, present and future. The current body of work I am creating is rooted so deeply in my heart and I am so excited to share with others, the magic that happens when we slow down and listen to hearts.
